Tear-Filled Sky

sky filled with moisture
hangs low on the horizon
waiting an excuse
to come pelting to the ground
abiding now God’s timing

This morning, my father was taken by helicopter to a hospital 50 miles away. He was breathing very rapidly, and not responding to my mother at all. She is there with him, and my nurse is with me. It’s been over five hours, and I’ve no word as yet about his condition. I am praying for God’s will to be done, but it’s very hard.

    • Thank you very much.

Update: as of this morning, my father has not regained consciousness but he is stabilized. Overnight, he responded to a question asking his name; so far that is the only word he has spoken.

    • Thank you Wendy. My mom and barely arrived home from the hospital yesterday, when they called and asked her to come back because they thought father was dying. This morning, he is still alive and mom is going down again to see him. That’s all we know at the present time.

  2. Hi Michael

I an so sorry to hear this and will keep all of you in my prayers.
Please get some rest if you can but I know how unsettling these developments are.

    My best and God Bless

    • Thank you Wendy. My mom just returned from the hospital. They have moved my father to a private room and are giving him hospice care. They told my mom that his body is shutting down and it is a matter of time. It helps a little to have someone care who is not directly involved, so thank you again.

  3. Thank you Parker and thank you Steve. I very much appreciate your prayers and good thoughts. Yesterday, he seemed to know when someone was speaking to him and was calmer when mother sang to him, hymns and other songs he knew well.

  4. Michael,

I am so very sorry to hear of your father’s illness. I have begun my replies with the oldest post first,
so I’m guessing there will be more on his condition in newer posts. A prayer of peace and comfort
for your father, you, and your family.
