Free Day

Snow falls,
no school today.
Moms send children outside:
sledding, making snowmen, building snow forts, snowball fighting.
On through to eventide
children still play.
Mom calls.

    • Thank you Sarah. I think snow is one of those things you have to be a child to fully appreciate. Once you become an adult with a job, any love of snow is always tempered with other considerations.

  1. Hi Michael

What a delightful poem recalling the fun and freedom of that “snow day”. Also love the use of that old and beautiful word — “eventide”. That word is like the curfew bell that calls for dinner and the quiet of evening. Thanks for sharing.

    Much enjoyed!
