Haiku for Thanksgiving

wild turkey watching
his plump white-feathered cousins
what thoughts must he have

hot roasted turkey
stuffing dumplings casserole
cranberry salad

serve delicious food
enjoy loving company
warm conversations

parades all morning
meal served about midday
nap watching football

Jamestown to today
Thanksgiving’s America’s
day of reflection

add them together
consider all your blessings
see what God has done

in a perfect world
two words should go together
family Thanksgiving

    Really enjoyed this montage of sensations and images that come with this special, family holiday. You capture it beautifully with your words and details. I am there in the scene and like Sarah, my mouth is watering fro some of that stuffing, turkey and cranberries.

  3. Thank you Wendy. I’ve never been able to resist Thanksgiving dinner. Little over a decade ago, I decided I needed to get my weight under control and began reducing my calorie intake. I’d lost a little weight by the time Thanksgiving arrived, and I thought it wouldn’t hurt to indulge myself just one day. Boy was I wrong! I guess my stomach had started to shrink, because I felt like I was stuffed near to bursting for a good 5 hours. I can tell you I learned that lesson very well.
