A Soft Rain Falls

(in celebration of poetry)

A whispered rain
drifts down and through me.
On a land that is given to extremes,
flood and drought
and raging conflagration,
this gentle mist is a celebration
that settles softly without clenched fist
or wracking sobs, no armament
or artillery, and yet, eventually
it will change the face of stone.

  1. A lovely poem, and so very true. While the storms and raging in all the news, it is the steady influence over years, decades, and even centuries, which changes landscapes – and people.

  2. I just had the strangest experience with Opera. I went up to give you a “like” and it kept flashing up the WordPress login screen for a few seconds like it needed to confirm my login. When the pop-up screen would go away there would still be no “like”. I kept getting the same thing so I finally had to go to Internet Explorer to give you your “like”.

    • Michael,

When something like that happens, I tend to think someone is experimenting with new coding.
It could be Opera or it could be Word Press. Sometimes new code will affect one browser and
      not another.

This is definitely a powerful and beautiful poem. I can feel through your use of fine language and rhythm, the appreciation the poet has for this gift of “a soft rain”. The rain ,itself, is the poem and you honor it with your beautiful voice and poetic insight!

    Much enjoyed,
    Take care
