Dust-Bunnied Brain

*Dedicated to those who know well sinus pain partnered with attempts to gather thoughts for a new poem.

A Dust-Bunnied Brain ©2010

What could clean this clutter
in my dust-bunnied brain?
Would I find a pristine poem,
one that’s polished,
one most-worthy to claim?

I’ve searched my mind
over again and again;
it’s not worth this struggle,
this mind-boggling strain,
this fumbling to find just
the right verse, chorus, refrain.

Tell me, tell me
is there a broom
to sweep cobwebs
from every room?

Maybe a vacuum
to go VROOM, VROOM, VROOM?
Maybe a swerve-here,
swerve-there duster
to bring back the luster?
Maybe a mop
to return shine, gloss
that is lost?

What could clean this clutter
in my dust-bunnied brain?
Maybe I should take those
sinus meds and go to bed
just like the doctor said

while dreams settle
with the unsettled
and murmurs murmur,

“What could clean this clutter
in my dust-bunnied brain?”

“What could clean this clutter
in my dust-bunnied brain?”
