All in a Cup

During an unseasonably-warm morning on January 1, 2019, an out-of-season bee landed in the golden, lukewarm pool in my floral mug placed on the front-porch railing. Yes, I quickly rescued the bee, and a couple quick-see resolutions were delivered by wing to me.

All in a Cup

You thought last sips of the golden brew
in my floral cup were sips o’ honey for you.

Tiltin’ and emptyin’ the cup as fast as I could,
I had to get you out, see you crawlin’ on wood.

I saw a soaked, feeble form limpin’ in sun.
You were rescued. Your life was not done.

I could not believe it right before me,
living resolutions, life’s truths did I see,

two important things for the bee and me

Look twice before diving into anything.
Help others to find their safe shore.

Never have I had that, e’er before,
real-life resolutions outside my door.

You, lil’ bee stirrin’ around in my cup,
remind me of positives: keep my head up.

For now life’s resolutions are perfectly clear.
Rescuing moments make the happy new year.

Whimsical and fun. And how true, sometimes its the oddest, smallest things or nuances that happen randomly but maybe not — maybe they happen to inspire, amuse or reveal. Anyway, I enjoyed the poem and am glad you shared it!

    My Best
