Winter

Winter,
keeper of
springtime green,
you stand guarding
time with pride.

Your defense,
chilling temps
and world in white,
sends one inside.

As snowflakes float
from paled skies,

a hushed

draped season
awaits

new birth,
unfolding buds,
bold blooms,
new green.

  1. Hi Jan

Beautiful characterization of Winter and the promise this season holds hidden in wait. Love the opening lines

    Winter,
    keeper of
    springtime green,

and the rest of the poem falls beautifully into place.

    Much enjoyed,
    Wendy
