Upside

In upside of night
before daybreak stirs,
I hear skip-trip whistlings,
train’s fast-track whirs.

Chug-a-chug-chug;
don’t plan to derail.
Staying on track
as far as I can tell.

In upside of night
before first bird sings,
I hear rompings on railings,
locomotive’s wild wings.

Chug-a-chug-chug;
don’t plan to derail.
Staying on track
as far as I can tell.

In upside of day
before sky paints light,
I hear sighs of yesterdays,
“It’ll all be all right.”

Chug-a-chug-chug;
don’t plan to derail.
Staying on track
as far as I can tell.

  1. Hi Jan

    What a delightful and uplifting poem — love how you intertwine the rhythm of the train with those of the day. Lovely poem and so beautifully voiced!

    Much enjoyed,
    thank you
