Leaf Dances

Autumn leaves
caught in gusts
in front of us
gracefully swirl
in subtle sound.

Spinning

twisting

twirling

swirling

spiraling

bronze

dancers

dip

then

dive

in midair.

In awe,
we stop
our step-
it’s a breathtaking show.

Grateful for the pause,
we continue our walk;
mutual smiles offer applause.

  1. Hi Jan

    n awe,
    we stop
    our step-
    it’s a breathtaking show.

    Grateful for the pause,
    we continue our walk;
    mutual smiles offer applause.

    You can’t beat the beauty and languid rhythm of those “dancing leaves” as they spin and twirl into the colder end of Autumn. There is something rather mesmerizing about the whole process and you capture the “show”
    of it so effecttively in this poem. I can imagine the leaves falling, dancing to the ground and holding one’s breath as stands still. It is an awesome thing to watch. Thanks for sharing it with us!

    Much enjoyed,
    Wendy
