The Ontologist

My six-year old son

– unprovoked – told me

God came

out of a crack

in the core of the earth,

and spread himself

over its surface

creating the trees, grass

and animals –

and is still traveling

throughout the universe

wanting to be

part of everything.

He told me

he believed that

when we die

we entered a dimension,

probably in a different time,

God is still busy

creating new worlds,

making himself part of it.

I think he is probably right

and much wiser than most

I have spoken to about it lately.

It amazes me, the things children say sometimes.

Some of them do seem more in touch
with an innocent/instinctive feel about
the universe around us, the topics
that scholars argue about.
