Patterns

If I could change patterns
in our world, I think I’d like
to do just that. No,
then again I think not.

That’s a huge undertaking
with many connections
and disconnections
like roads leading to
everywhere - and others
guiding to quick stops.

There’s one pattern
I’d never wish
to unravel nor undo—
the connection to you,
a place in the heart
where much love abounds,
where safety is still
safe
      and
           sound.

The ocean cannot even
aptly provide a picture
of all the sorrowful tears
should that happen,
and I’m left to carry on

without

   the

       you

             in

       the

world.

I’d be left with the ocean,
with breakers resounding,
as I search for all the treasures,
gifts sparkling like diamonds.

  1. Hi Jan

So beautiful this poem and its look at the patterns of time, relationship and emotion. I love how you word this piece and was really moved by this stanza –

    There’s one pattern
    I’d never wish
    to unravel nor undo—
    the connection to you,
    a place in the heart
    where much love abounds,
    where safety is still
    safe
    and
    sound.

Thank you so much for sharing this, I could relate and deeply appreciate its beautiful content.

    Take care
    Wendy
