Invisible-Stringed Instruments

I remember a time when
my four-year-old little girl
while outside frolicking in play
posed her thinking toward sky.

“Mama, maybe we’re God’s puppets,
and He forgot the strings.”

She started skipping to continue her play
leaving me staring at the cerulean ceiling
and a white cumulus dreamland—
completely lost in her wild imaginings.

  1. Hi Jan

What beautiful and imaginative wisdom the children have — and your daughter is a wonderful example. I love how she perceives us —

    “maybe we’re God’s puppets,
    and He forgot the strings.””

And yes, it is sheer magic when a child thinks and relates one observation to another. No wonder you cherish this memory and I am so glad you shared it! Such a delight to read!

    Take car,
    Wendy
