The Sentinel, Ever Vigilant

Earth
swaddled in the bliss
of moonbeams,

free from clocks
and all but gravity,

swathed in the gauze
of night wind’s song,

drinks the sweet elixir
of a new day’s dew.

Cat’s paw quiet,
the light of morning inches in.

The melody
of a hermit thrush in harmony

with dawn’s sweet symphony,
reassures the world…
The Maestro is not sleeping.

I feel and envision those beautiful and peaceful lines. What a miracle God gives us each season, each day in both our interior and exterior world. Hearing that bird in the distance and knowing the music of life is constant comforts and inspires. The whole poem is gorgeous from beginning to end., and I hope you continue to experience more evenings and mornings like this. And the title, too, is perfect!!

    Loved it,

  5. Many thanks, Wendy,

    It was a beautiful day.
I was surprised to wake up this morning
to find the snow has returned. Not a lot,
thankfully. I am so ready for full time Spring.

    Been missing you, Girl!

    Love,
    Sarah

  6. Not sleeping, but perhaps shaking his head a little in regret that this beautiful gift of a planet is perhaps not being cared for as it should be.

Our species is a contradiction in every possible way, but then again, we are the Maestro’s creation.

    Douglas.
