400 Miles from New York City

New snow falls
on New Year’s Eve
The slate wiped clean
Time has been freeze-framed

No sound
filters through the frosty air
No headlines mar the mood
No yesterday or tomorrow

In this moment of panoptic peace
the cosmos pauses
is as new as the New Year

  1. Indeed Sarah,

During such moments, “Everything is new as the new year”. Beautiful scene/mood setter with this moment of quiet peace, the atmosphere conducive to reflection and time pauses for us to breathe and welcome in the The New Year. How different it is in the country, away from the splendored chaos and into the retreat of personal home and outdoors.

    Beautifully said!

  2. Hi Wendy,

Many thanks for looking into my poem and for finding its heart.
So very glad you are healing, and that you are back at the Pub.
Happy New Year to you and yours.
