Like Gold One Day

Oh, Child,
in this fast-paced world
of work and play
will you stop
a few moments to say,
“How is your day?”

Stop a few minutes;
sit with me.
Let’s share coffee,
sip delicious tea.
Could you spend
some time with me?

In this fast-paced world
of work and play
will you stop
a few moments to say,
“How is your day?”

The moments we stopped
will be like gold one day,
will be like gold one day.

  1. Jan,

Your poem reminds us that the hustle and bustle is worthless
if it leaves us with no time to stop to share a cuppa and some
conversation. We will forget who gave what to whom, but we
will never forget those cherished moments when we took time
to listen. Our time is the greatest gift we can give (and our
    poetry…thank you for this gift!)

  2. I love this poem. Very important sentiment is expressed with words and a favorite flower. The repetition is very effective. I can almost hear a song, “You are my sunshine.” Thank you for reminding us, especially in this season.

    • ptc,

I see this poem as an ocean of love & desire to honor time spent together. Family bonding when nurtured is ever-strong. These words just braid around the parent/child relationship & strengthen it through all seasons as time spent together is honored. Precious time can be well-spent—together with loved ones.

  3. They may not realize until they are older
that those moments when one stops and spends time with a loved one
    will be priceless someday.

    A poem from the heart.
    take care,
    Kerri
