You Are Everywhere

I see You in the faces of my loved ones,

But You are present in the beggar too,

I feel Your power in the grandeur of the mountains

And in the vastness of the sky.

But I know that You are in the butterfly,

The humming bird, the bee.

The majestic trees whisper Your Name

But so do the wildflowers and the weeds.

You reside in the hearts of the great and the small,

The celebrated and the insignificant.

I smell Your wonderful fragrance in the flowers,

In the fresh morning and the sweet night air,

But You are there in the odour of blood spilled,

In the stench of poverty and disease.

May I never forget that even in the worst places,

In the most awful situations,.

If I look hard enough I’ll find You.

  3. Maryse, it amazes me how capitalizing one letter identifies such power and blessing and presence. Your contrasts point to Him everywhere. Your last line, “If I look hard enough I’ll find You,” reminds me of James 4:8a: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. ” Thank you for the vivid images that say to us, “I am here, and here, and here, and here.” If I can only remember your teachings and His.

  4. Hi Maryse

I love this and the message it conveys. You beautifully capture how God is everywhere connecting to all is people in every corner of life and every circumstance. The language is lyrical in its conveyance of his mercy and power. I am drawn immediately in by the opening strophe

I see You in the faces of my loved ones,

But You are present in the beggar too,

I feel Your power in the grandeur of the mountains

And in the vastness of the sky.

But I know that You are in the butterfly,

    The humming bird, the bee.

and given spiritual comfort by the sense of resolve and reassurance in the last lines of this faith emphasized poem. It has perfect pitch and voice!

    Thank you for sharing this!
    I love it,
    Wendy
