John Ashbery, July 28, 1927-September 3, 2017

John Lawrence Ashbery was an American poet. He published more than twenty volumes of poetry and won nearly every major American award for poetry, including a Pulitzer Prize in 1976 for his collection Self-Portrait in a Convex Mirror. Wikipedia

There is the view that poetry should improve your life. I think people confuse it with the Salvation Army.
The poem is sad because it wants to be yours, and cannot be.
I like poems you can tack all over with a hammer and there are no hollow places.
